Pilates is a series of progressive exercise routines that challenge the mind, the body and the spirit. Strength develops from the centerline on out by practicing the repertoire ingeniously developed by Joseph H. Pilates to build total health. The principles practiced in these routines include awareness, breathing, concentration, coordination, centering, precision and flow. Layered progression develops the skill set necessary to move from Foundations practice through Intermediate and into Advanced Pilates work ensuring each body gets the most out of their Pilates practice safely and with integrity of motion.

Classes are 50-55 minutes long.

Mat Classes

Mat class is designed to teach the fundamentals connections, exercises and breath work necessary to develop a robust Pilates practice. Practicing Pilates principles in exercises that flex, extend, and rotate the body to improve core strength, endurance, balance, mobility and stability.

Expect to practice standing, side lying, lying on one’s back, spinal articulation, and occasional kneeling exercises depending on the class level.

Mats are provided, and extra cushioning is available.  Props and exercise modifications are used as needed to connect deeply to one’s own powerhouse and experience within each exercise.

We see on average, 4-6 students at one time during mat class.

Reformer Classes

Pilates is meditation in motion; a physical, mental and spiritual process.  Foundations class introduces a person to moving that way and is designed to challenge a person new to practicing Pilates on the Reformer, teach the fundamentals connections, exercises and breath work necessary to develop a robust Pilates practice baseline.  Prior to joining the Reformer or other equipment classes, each new to the studio client will take 5 hour or half hour private lessons to ensure safety.

Intermediate class builds upon the skill set of the Foundations work to challenge and teach a deeper level of breathing, coordination, connection, concentration, balance, proprioception and become cross-training for daily life activity supporting an inner harmony through finely tuning the body.

Reformer class helps develop many aspects of physical fitness:  strength, flexibility, coordination, speed, agility and endurance. We aim to build strong centers to enhance performance in the things we do every day and love.

Expect standing work both on the floor and atop the Reformer, side lying exercise, lying on one’s back, spinal articulation, inversion (intermediate/advanced), and kneeling exercises.

Equipment is provided, modifications and props are used as needed in this class to connect deeply to one’s own powerhouse and experience within each exercise.

Class is limited to 4 students.

Pre and Post-Natal Movement

Stay fit during pregnancy for a smooth transition to postnatal workouts. Keep your body strong as it goes through changes to support the growth of your new child. If you want to try Pilates at any point in your pregnancy, please contact me prior to trying videos at home. The variety of exercise options available on the reformer allow pregnant clients to work in 4 points (hands and knees), seated, reclined, kneeling and side-lying positions. Postnatal mothers need to recuperate and restructure. Pilates focuses on pelvic floor strengthening, hip stability, and abdominal strengthening to help you feel like it’s all coming back together!
